Kate Cracknell \u2013 Experte Bien-\u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019Aspria &#8211; s\u2019est pench\u00e9e sur la question.\u00a0Dans son ouvrage de 2008 intitul\u00e9 SPARK, le Dr John Ratey, un \u00e9minent professeur de psychiatrie \u00e0 la Harvard Medical School aux \u00c9tats-Unis, pr\u00e9sente un aper\u00e7u fascinant des bienfaits consid\u00e9rables du sport sur le cerveau.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>par Kate Cracknell<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le Dr Ratey explique\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Il se trouve que le sport joue un r\u00f4le pr\u00e9ventif dans le d\u00e9clin des fonctions cognitives, en permettant \u00e0 notre cerveau de conserver ses capacit\u00e9s cognitives malgr\u00e9 le temps qui passe. Des \u00e9tudes indiquent m\u00eame que l\u2019exercice physique peut r\u00e9duire de moiti\u00e9 les risques de maladie d\u2019Alzheimer, en retardant le d\u00e9clin cognitif de pas moins de 10 \u00e0 15\u00a0ans.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un patrimoine g\u00e9n\u00e9tique sain ne suffit pas<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019une de ses \u00e9tudes, publi\u00e9e en 2017, a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e par l\u2019universit\u00e9 McMaster (Canada) et a d\u00e9cel\u00e9 un lien fort entre un mode de vie s\u00e9dentaire et la d\u00e9mence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette \u00e9tude a suivi 1\u00a0646\u00a0adultes de plus de 65\u00a0ans, aucun d\u2019eux ne souffrant \u00e0 la base d\u2019une quelconque forme de d\u00e9ficience cognitive. Au commencement de l\u2019\u00e9tude, tous les participants ont d\u00fb faire une prise de sang afin de v\u00e9rifier la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019apolipoprot\u00e9ine\u00a0E dans leur corps, le marqueur g\u00e9n\u00e9tique le plus souvent associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9mence. Cinq ans plus tard, l\u2019\u00e9quipe de recherche a regard\u00e9 quels participants avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 diagnostiqu\u00e9s comme souffrant de d\u00e9mence et a examin\u00e9 les habitudes de chacun en termes d\u2019exercice physique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sur 5\u00a0ans, 331\u00a0personnes avaient d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une certaine forme de d\u00e9mence. En recoupant les r\u00e9sultats de la prise de sang initiale avec les diagnostics de d\u00e9mence et les habitudes sportives, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a pu \u00e9tablir des interactions entre ces diff\u00e9rents facteurs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ainsi, elle a d\u00e9couvert que les personnes porteuses du g\u00e8ne de l\u2019apolipoprot\u00e9ine\u00a0E avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 2\u00a0fois plus nombreuses \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une forme de d\u00e9mence au cours des 5\u00a0ans. Une constatation qui confirme les risques importants associ\u00e9s \u00e0 une pr\u00e9disposition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cependant, parmi ceux ne pr\u00e9sentant pas ce g\u00e8ne, l\u2019exercice physique a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le pr\u00e9ventif important. Les personnes qui faisaient \u00e9tat d\u2019un mode de vie principalement s\u00e9dentaire, ne faisant que peu ou pas d\u2019exercice, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 2\u00a0fois plus nombreuses \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une forme de d\u00e9mence que celles qui faisaient r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement du sport. En d\u2019autres termes, un manque d\u2019exercice physique entra\u00eenait le m\u00eame risque de d\u00e9mence qu\u2019une pr\u00e9disposition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0Le message \u00e0 retenir ici, c\u2019est qu\u2019un manque d\u2019activit\u00e9 physique peut totalement annuler les effets protecteurs de g\u00e8nes sains\u00a0\u00bb, explique Jennifer Heisz, coauteur de l\u2019\u00e9tude et professeur assistant au d\u00e9partement de kin\u00e9siologie de l\u2019universit\u00e9 McMaster. \u00ab\u00a0Et \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 que la plupart des individus ne pr\u00e9sentent pas de risque g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, l\u2019exercice physique peut se r\u00e9v\u00e9ler une strat\u00e9gie pr\u00e9ventive efficace.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Agir maintenant pour en profiter plus tard<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29077 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fiftyandmemagazine.be\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sport-senior-fiftyandme-magazine.jpg\" alt=\"photo sport homme\" width=\"808\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fiftyandmemagazine.be\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sport-senior-fiftyandme-magazine.jpg 1110w, https:\/\/www.fiftyandmemagazine.be\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sport-senior-fiftyandme-magazine-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fiftyandmemagazine.be\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sport-senior-fiftyandme-magazine-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 808px) 100vw, 808px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mais cet aspect n\u2019est pas le seul bienfait du sport sur le cerveau. En effet, le r\u00f4le du sport dans le maintien du poids est aussi clairement li\u00e9 \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation de la fonction c\u00e9r\u00e9brale, comme l\u2019indique John Ratey\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Nous savons que la masse graisseuse a un impact n\u00e9gatif sur les performances cognitives. Un grand nombre d\u2019\u00e9tudes d\u00e9montrent d\u2019ailleurs que l\u2019ob\u00e9sit\u00e9 tue des cellules c\u00e9r\u00e9brales, depuis l\u2019enfance et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge adulte.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alors que les personnes montrant d\u00e9j\u00e0 des signes de d\u00e9clin cognitif peuvent se mettre au sport pour retarder le processus, le mieux est d\u2019adopter une strat\u00e9gie pr\u00e9ventive.
